What the game collects

Nothing, unless you send a report. ROOMS has no account, no sign-in, no cookies, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. The game does not send anything anywhere while you play.

Your saved game

So a refresh does not lose your place, the game keeps your run in your own browser's local storage (one entry, rooms-save-v1): where you are, what you have found, your notebook, markers, tape and the company's jobs. It never leaves your browser and we never see it. START OVER on the start screen deletes it, as does clearing this site's data in your browser.

While we chase a bug, the game also keeps a short log in the same place (rooms-uilog-v1, the last 400 entries): when a message or screen appeared on top of the game and what it said, and when the window lost focus or the mouse was released. It stays in your browser too and is never sent.

Reports (the ? button)

If you use the ? button (or B) to send a bug or an idea, we store what you wrote, the name you gave if any, a snapshot of where you were in the game (level, room, position, what you had found, time played, screen size) and your browser's user-agent string. The form shows you the snapshot before you send it. Your address is not stored with the report. Reports are read by the people making the game and are not sold or shared.

What gets loaded

Every file the game needs, including the three.js engine, is served from rooms.idle-hands.net. Your browser does not contact any other site to run it.

Server logs

Like any web server, ours keeps standard access logs: the address a request came from, the time, the page asked for and the browser's user-agent string. They are used to keep the server running and are not sold or shared.
